You are so right, Greg! With an increase in complexity and dynamics — and that is what the mentioned developments will bring us — heroic concepts reach their natural limits. No single person, not even a single company can oversee challenges and solutions any more. Complexity of environment requires complexity of the team that tries to master it. Interdisciplinary collaboration that transcends the borders of companies and creates an ecosystem for value creation will be a key factor for future business.

While you describe that little improvement had been made for the wealth and wellbeing of common people, I’d like to encourage anyone to look beyon US borders. A lot has changed during the last decades. With my surely limited European perspective — although working internationally — I experienced amazing developments in Asia and currently starting in Africa. When talking about collaborative ecosystem we should look far beyond the limits of our so-called developed western world. There is quite a chance that we might only be observers from outside when the next economic disruption starts.
